IHI Chapter
Posted almost 8 years ago by Cynthia Tate
Hi HOHAPA!
Some of you may remember my plea for some assistance with starting an IHI (Institute for Healthcare Improvement) Chapter here in the Kerrville/FBG area. If you weren't at the meeting (or if you were and don't remember what I am talking about ). I am currently enrolled in a Leadership and Organizing for Change course through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. I have become very interested in starting a chapter here in the Hill Country. As a Nurse Practitioner working in the oncology/hematology setting, I see many opportunities for improving the delivery of healthcare in our community. I am sure each of you have stories of patients that have "fallen through the cracks" as well. I envision the IHI chapter serving as an opportunity for key stakeholders in the community to celebrate accomplishments, but also identify and correct deficits. The intent of the IHI chapter is to utilize team work and collaboration to identify innovative ways to improve the health of our community. Sounds exciting, right? Think about this, how many times in a week do you get asked at work "what can we do to make our patient care better?". This chapter will make sure that stakeholders, like yourselves, get asked that question AND have the input and expertise from other healthcare providers in the community to help find a solution. The reason I am writing you is to ask if you are interested, or know of anyone who might be interested, in assisting me with opening a chapter of the IHI in Kerrville. Participants could include anyone with experience in healthcare or relatated industries that might have translatable goals and solutions (engineering, business, etc), Nurses, Physicians, Hospital Adminitrators, Dentists, Chiropractors, School nurses/Administrators, Physical Therapies, Psychologists, LPC's, Social workers, Clergy, the list goes on..... The closest chapter to our region is in San Antonio. If you are not familiar with the IHI, the link is www.ihi.org. I would love the opportunity to speak with you in person or via phone at your convenience. Thank you for your consideration and I hope to hear from you soon! Please feel free to share this with others in our community.
Kind Regards,
